2026 SSC Playoffs

D2 and D3 postseason play begins the week of June 1st, with championship games scheduled for June 8th (D2) and June 9th (D3).

Playoff Format

The South Shore Coastal Girls Softball League postseason applies to D2 and D3 only. D1 does not participate in playoffs.

  • The top eight (8) teams qualify for the postseason.
  • Teams are seeded by regular-season winning percentage.
  • There are no first-round byes.
  • Higher seeds host all playoff games.

Tiebreakers for Seeding

If two teams finish with the same winning percentage, playoff seeding will be determined in the following order:

  1. Head-to-head record
  2. Lowest average runs allowed per game
    We use average runs allowed rather than run differential to discourage teams from intentionally running up the score.
  3. Overall run differential

For ties involving three or more teams, if head-to-head results do not break the tie, the remaining tiebreakers will be applied using only the games involving the tied teams.

Important Notes:

  • Standings displayed on the SSC website are automatically generated and may not fully reflect official tiebreaker procedures.
  • Final playoff seedings and brackets will be announced at the conclusion of the regular season.
  • Umpire fees for playoff games prior to the championship will be split evenly between both teams ($40 per team).
  • Championship games will use two umpires, with a fee of $80 per team.
